Rochester: cams will close on monday
The last images from the webcams 2008. They will close down tomorrow. After a wonderful 2008 nesting season all five of this year’s eyases– Seneca, Diamante, Quest, Zephyr and Susan B– have take to the skies of Rochester and fledge successfully. Since the falcons have largely left the nest box, and the project is preparing to transition the camera equipment and nest box, the Rochester Falconcam’s cameras will shut down on Monday, July 7th. But Impints will continue to bring information from the on-scene volunteer watchers at the FalconWatch Blog throughout the summer.
The Falconcam site will remain active throughout the year so that news of Quest’s travels via her solar-powered backpack transmitter can be brought. The Kodak Rochester team has been informed by the satellite monitoring agency that her signals are being received, and the website is being prepared so that can been showed where she goes. Posting updates for Quest will start in a few weeks, as soon as she leaves the area.

Derby Cathedral Peregrine Project
Not much action today. The weather was bad and the youngsters did not show themselves very much. Neither on teh pud nor the nestbox
So it was not until late in the afternoon before one of the parents landed with a big pigeon an started plucking. The prey wa sleft for a hungry youngster.
And so the afternoon became the evening and made this gay glide away. Hope tomorrow the sun will appear again, because with it the youngsters will!
They still need the parents to hunt for them.
The first Derby juvenile fledged on June 11, so it is only 4 weeks. They do have to learn a lot and will stay at least for another 4 weeks around the cathedral. Most juveniles wander off between 8-12 weeks after fledging. So there still will be a lot to watch!
