James River Bridge: feeding the eyases

Rochester

It was a rainy day in Rochester. Both Mariah and Kaver where quite wet on their heads. It's not always enjoyable incubating eggs. Rain or wind or storm it has to go on. Even snow can't keep them from continuing breeding. And the reward is 5 times adorable. Just watch the little ones of James River Bridge, in a few weeks there will be 5 little babyperegrines here in this nest. I'm so looking forward to that. Last year was such a great season with the 4 lovely ladies of Rochester. Wow what a great time that was. How beautiful they where and are.
And little Rhea Mae of the 2006 season, now breeding her own first eggs at the Sheraton nestsite in downtown Toronto. She is the next generation.

James River Bridge video

Oberhausen

Just a few very remarkable shots. The eldest one has discovered she has wings! And has already started wing excersises. Can't start early enough with that!
When you scroll down in the day you will find a slideshow of these three little rascals.

De Mortel

Zwolle

From nest monday on, we will have livestreaming on these cams. Electrabel makes this possible. They are official sponsor of the Dutch Peregrine Association called: Werkgroep Slechtvalken Nederland. So many thanks to all who make this possible.
I'm sure we will enjoy it very much.
Jan van Dijk told us, the female peregrine has started her annual molt. Jan found a primary flight feather!

Rome: feeding eyases

Terminal Tower Cleveland

4 Beautiful shiny eggs in the scrape. SW and Buckeye taking very good care of them. They are a very experienced and succesful breedingpair.

The eggs have 2 more weeks to go. The embryo's are halfway their development.

Columbus Ohio: 4 eggs!!

Scout has laid her 4th egg. What a big succes! A week ago it did not look so well at all. With just one egg in the scrape which had been there for over a week. But Scout she produced 3 eggs in one week. Way to go beautiful falcon!

There is only one question now is, did she really lay a fourth egg of her first clutch, or is it the third of the second one......

James River Bridge: 3 eyases!

Harrisburg

Nijmegen: trouble again?

The peregrines in Nijmegen keep alert. They still seem to be on the watchout for the intruder. Both male and female at the nestbox. I don't hope the intruder will come back. We certainly do not want this clutch to be in danger. Last year we've had enough sorrow and heartbreak with the big problems in De Mortel with S2.
But unfortunately territorial disputes are part of the peregrines life.

Oberhausen eyases

Oberhausen: 12 days old eyases

The eyases in Oberhausen are growing very fast. They are 12 days old now. The chicks are beginning to sit upright on their bottom with their enormous feet in front of them. But most of the time they lean on eachother. The very beginnings of wing feather development are also seen around this time. The primary flight feathers are the first to grow. The feathers grow inside a shaft and these will become more and more visable the upcoming days along the edges of the winghand. Next are the secondary flight feathers and tailfeathers. The chicks will start preening as well, they do that by instinct.
The eldest chick in Oberhausen has discovered it has wings, and is flapping away.

Derby Cathedral Peregrine Project

There a very suicidal pigeon sitting just below the nest. Home delivery of food....
Just in front of the topcam a prey is being plucked!

Cobb Island

When the eyases will hatch here we will have spectacular photo's for sure! Still 11 days to go though!

Bologna

The eyases are already 7 days old. That means that they still need the protection of their parents. The first down is growing fast. As soon as that is complete they have their own thermoregulation. The pink skin is still shows through.

Hatch-Eggtable

With all the eggs practically laid, and hatching in progress the table comes in handy to see which nests will hatch next.
