Rochester: 11 days old

The Rochesterchicks are 11 days old. Very beautiful visible is the second down which looks a bit blue-ish. They are mobile and yesterday we could zee how one actually did a litlle walkabout the nestbox. They are an adorable bunch. Whith a lot of looking after and feeding. So much that Kaver did help feeding while Mariah could lean back. It makes a beautiful picture: both legendary parents with this treasure of 5 healthy little peregrine falcons.I do love this couple, the beautiful Mariah, look at her posture and the strong and faithfull provider Kaver. What a joy it will be for those who live in Rochester to be alble to see these 5 juvi's flying over the Gorge in a few weeks. Please make lots of films and pics so we, oversea will be able to enjoy that too, from a distance. For now, the 5 babies need food and sleep to become healthy and strong juvi's.

De Mortel:Oh those wings

While the kids are flapping their wings Dad is playing peek-a-boo with the ledgecam:

Oberhausen: juvenile visit

What a joy to see one of our beloved juveniles in the nestbox for a while. Just a short visit but long enough to see who well this one is. On the roof webcam we can see one flying to pick something up.

It's such a shame there don't seem to be fledgeteams, or spotters on teh ground who follow these 3 and to report back. Who make films and pics so we can enjoy live coverage of how they are doing. One thing;s for sure, we will have that from the TT site, as well as Rochester and De Mortel!

Terminal Tower Cleveland: 26 days old

It's amazing how fast peregrine eyases grow up to adult weight and size. Look at the 4 TT eyases how they've grown. Juvi feathers are visible all over. 26 Days old are they already. They will very soon leave the nestbox and start wandering about. I do hope Scott Wright will find time to take some more fabulous pics of our 4 wonderful chicks.

Rome: most of the time gone

The Rome juveniles are gone for the most part of the day. They seldom return to teh mestsite and are mostly simewhere behind the nest. I think there is kind of a square, wher ethey banded them as well a few weeks ago.

Vento returns to the mest often and even scraped some bowls. I was to late to start the video, so now clip of that I'm afraid. This is normal behaviour. All couples display bonding behaviour after the chicks heave left the nest. Head-bow-low, eechupping, scrapeing bowls and even copulations. All are a form of bonding.

So no start of another nest but conformation of the livelong bond they have together!

Ringing the chicks tomorrow

During the afternoon of Monday 19th the chicks will be taken from the nest box for a short time as they are going to be ringed. This will be from 14.30 and we'll try and get some photos up on the site later in the evening.

Each chick will be measured, weighed and a feather taken so their DNA can be registered.

While the chicks are being ringed the webcam is going to take a break and the updates will stop for a bit. Once the ringing has been completed it will start updating again, which should be by 17.00.

Oberhausen: bonding behaviour

The parents keep visiting the nestbox. They even display courtship behaviour like head-bow-low and eechupping. And the male is digging bowls. This is perfectly normal behaviour and is seen at all nestsites. It is kind bonding behaviour, and a ritual of the end of the reproduction season. They confirm to eachother: we belong together, this is our scrape, we will nest together the next time. They even copulate, and this is bondong behaviour as well. Which is very unusual, because copulations are usually just for reproduction.
