Sussex Heights Falcon Webcam: New Male

Photobucket

In previous years, including last year the male has always been without a
ring. But this male has 2 rings with a very clear Black 15, as can be seen in the series of pics from yesterdaymorning! So the male from the past years has been replaced.

Black 15 hatched on Chichester Cathedral in 2005 and was ringed by Graham
Roberts of the Sussex Ornithological Society on 27th May of that year.
Graham is also responsible for ringing the Sussex Heights chicks among
others. One of 4 chicks (3 males & a female). We think this is the first
sighting of him since June 2005!

It's turning into an interesting season already!

And that is wonderful news!
Last year we all have enjoyed this peregrine falcon couple with their 4 eyases. You can all read about it on this Blog:

Pittsburgh: Gulftower a new season!
2008 Nesting Chronology
1st Egg – 11 March
2nd Egg – 13 March
3rd Egg – 16 March
4th Egg – 18 March

1st chick – 20 April
2nd chick – 20 April

The Gulf Tower was the first known building nest site in Pennsylvania. Many other PA nest sites are on bridges. Buildings are generally more successful locations for peregrines nesting in cities.
The original pair in Pittsburgh wore coded leg bands identifying them as part of the recovery program. The original female was released in the Shenandoah Mountains near the Virginia-West Virginia border in June 1989. The male was released in northeastern Tennessee in June 1989.
The Gulf Tower nest has fledged a total of 59 young peregrine falcons since the first nesting in 1991.

Something very special this Fidra Web Cam. The Scottish Seabird Centre is a world leader in remote wildlife viewing. The webcam images you are watching are transmitted live, direct from the Seabird Centre’s cameras, which are located on the islands of the Firth of Forth and controlled by visitors at the Centre. The live images refresh every 5-10 seconds.
