A bunch of probably cold and hungry pigeons came to dinner not knowing they just might end up as the very dinner themselves.

But they also know that sitting very still and do not move means the peregrine falcon does not notice them as prey. A nervous frightened flying pigeon is very attractive for a peregrine falcon, but a sitting one is not.
Of course prey birds develope all kinds of tactics to escape death. They are very much aware of the strong and the weak points of the peregrine falcon. They keep on the watch-out for a hunting bird of prey. They have high developed senses like hearing for instance. They keep watching and listening to other animals. A hunting peregrine falcons is very disturbing for all birds, they all fly up and get the heck out. Every preybird in the vicinity knows immediately there is danger on the hunt.

Going into hiding is very effective. Taking shelter in the forest or low shrubs means the peregrine cannot strike. Crows like to take hiding under a car, the P. F. will never persue a crow under a care, so it is save there. Crows are very intelligent, they are not caught that easily. The P.F. and the crow/raven are the most intelligent birds on our planet.

So those pigeons in Freedoms nest are not wise, they did move a lot, and who knows one of them just might have ended up as dinner.
