Terminal Tower: snow

Horrible weather conditions for SW and Buckeye. During the night it was even worse. Peregrine Falcons can stand this, but it does look awful. They will not leave the nest, only change guard. They are very well protected by their preened feathers. These are absolutely water and snow proof. They fill the downfeather underlayer with air, and create a warm isolating layer around their body. Like a downbed. The broodpatch keeps the eggs at 38 C. The many hours they spend daily on preening is a matter of life and death. If they don't they will freeze, get soaking wet, become ill and die.
So dearest SW and Buckeye, hang in there. And please gods of rain and snow go away and give us sunshine.
