Alcoa Anglesea: what a day!

What a wonderful day this has been. The 3 juvs were very active and were flying around and playing. They flew up the roof of the box, and off angain, on again, all three of them, and out of view. Reappearing on the other side. They were having a lot of fun and so did we watching them!

It is very obvious now that little Stan fell out of the box by accident more than a week ago. After he has been back he has not left again. He is now showing totally normal behaviour, branching with his brothers. He is a little survivor this one, struggling himself back alive and kicking.

The 3 brothers seem ready to leave, all grown. The primaries are fully grown, that is very well visible on the pics. The tailfeathers need a few cm, but they can fly in spite of that. Won't be long now.

Alcoa Anglesea: 42 days old

De Mortel: new nestbox

After 4 years of excellent service the old green nestbox was removed yesterday and replaced by a brandnew one. The box was made by the local Bird Workgroup from Gemert.
We wanted to instal new camera's as well, so both could be done at the same time. Roel Zwiers our technician uninstalled nestbox cam, microphone and the ledgecam. And installed a new nestboxcam, microphone and a new ledgecam. The new box was then placed on the grate and attached to the ledge.
The view from the ledge cam is aboslutely superb. The view from the nestbox is not yet OK, but we will fix that as well. So we can all enjoy S2, Pa and their new eyases next season.

Both S2 and Pa came to watch what the heck was going on, did some protesting for 10-15 minutes and left to prech and preen on the first ring.
