Frodocam

One of the peregrine falcons paid a short visit. According to watch reposrts they perch now on Aurora Towers and possibly nest on Riparian Plaza

Frodocam: different nestsite

On September 22 Frodocam reported that Frodo and Frieda were very active around a building close to Admiralty Towers. The initial report suggested that they are defending the top of this building.
In the meantime by october 2nd they have been seen around the two tallest buildings in Brisbane – Aurora Tower and Riparian Plaza. Aurora seems to be a vantage point and roost rather than a nest site, so Riparian may be the new site. It is difficult to confirm at the moment. Both are close to Admiralty Towers.
This is not good news for the watchers of Frodocam. But we do hope Frieda and Frodo will start nesting and produce offspring this season.
Yesterday one of them paid a short visit to the Frodocamsite.

Frodocam: Frieda en Frodo moved...

Where are Frodo and Frieda?

Things are not going the way they should at this nsetsite. For weeks now we have all been waiting for Frieda to lay her eggs and the well known nestsite ad Admiralty Tower. But no sign of either of the peregrines.

Normally the ledge is the centre of the courtship displays. All rituals are being performed overthere. Roosting together, nibbling on each others toes, digging bowles in the scrape, head- bow- low and eechupping, he offering her prey.
They engage in beautiful breathtaking arial displays. When she finally decides he's the one, mating starts, on the ledge again. Close to the nest.

We have not seen any of this at the Brisbane nestsite. That is a sign that no breeding will take place here. Probably somewhere else.

On september 9 I already suggested that.

I have just received a report of a pair of Peregrines being very active around a building close to Admiralty Towers. The initial report suggests that they are defending the top of this building - not good news for Frodocam. Equally the pair may simply be engaging is courtship display. The location of the building indicates that the pair is likely to be F&F. The report is being investigated and I will publish details as they come to hand.

So it seems that we will not be able to watch the 2008 nest of Frodo and Frieda. They have found a new and better location, this Frieda likes more. I do hope we will receive updates about eegs and later on eyases.

Brisbane: brief visit

Just a glimps of a peregrine. Will they start breeding overhere? I seriously doubt it.

Frodocam: Frodo and Frieda are back

After many days of absence, Frieda and Frodo were back for a short while at the nestsite. Happy to see them. That both are together means they do not have eggs elsewhere. They would never ever leave eggs. Incubation is done together, and when one leaves the other takes over. So we will just wait and see what's going to happen next. They sure are teasing us all!

Frodocam

Some pics from August 26. Since then not a single peregrine in front of the webcam at any time of day or night. They sure do take their time this year. It might not be until the second half of september before we see an egg. Either here or at the Alcoa Anglesea nestsite.
